The eThekwini Municipality will be embarking on a significant upgrade at its electricity call centre to improve communication with residents.

The city’s communication unit announced that the electricity call centre is switching to a new system.

The Head of eThekwini Municipality’s Electricity Unit, Maxwell Mthembu, said they plan to increase the staff capacity on the WhatsApp groups where faults and other issues about electricity can be reported.

Mthembu added that the projected timeframe is two weeks, and after that, the call centre is expected to be back on track.

The city also apologised for the inconvenience the upgrades have caused to the public.
