Forty-six more people have died here in South Africa after contracting the virus, taking our national death toll to 54,331.
Over the past 24-hour reporting cycle, 1,086 infections were also picked up taking the country’s known caseload to over 1,579,536.
So far, over 1.5 million people have recuperated, with our recovery rate holding steady at 95%.
On the vaccine front, more than 307,000 healthcare workers have received the jab.
