The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 2028
This is an increase of 25 cases from Friday’s announcement of 2,003
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize also says that 25 people have now died from the virus in South Africa.
The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 75 053. This is an increase of 2,025 from the last report.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize the deceased patient is a 61-year-old male from the Western Cape.
“His underlying medical conditions included diabetes, hypertension and obesity. We convey our condolences to the family of the deceased and also appreciate the health workers that treated the deceased patient.”
On Thursday President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the national lock down by an additional two weeks beyond the initial 21 days asking the country to make “greater sacrifices” to save thousands of lives.
