24 Shops Damaged After Thunderstorm Hits Trade Route Mall in Lenasia

A number of shops at the Trade Route Mall in Lenasia have been damaged after a severe thunderstorm hit the shopping centre.

The thunderstorm also affected the Thembelihle informal settlement causing many shacks to flood leaving residents destitute and in need of urgent aid.

In a Facebook post, Trade Route Mall management says the storm on 1 May caused a substantial amount of damage to the shopping centre.

“Due to this, 24 of our stores are currently closed for business until the damage has been assessed and rectified. However the rest of our tenants will continue trade as usual.”

Management has not indicated if there were any injuries that were sustained as a result of the storm.
